Listed below are Nebraska's Tree Line USA and Tree City USA award winners, current as of 2005. Listed with each utility and community is the number of years in the Tree Line or Tree City USA program. Communities receiving a growth award are identified with a green leaf. This is the 30th anniversary of the Tree City USA program sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation. Awards will be presented on April 6 at the Lied Conference Center in Nebraska City, NE.
Auburn is one of the very first Tree Cities in the United States and the only city in Nebraska that has remained in the program continuously since the time of the program's establishment. We also welcome three new communities and two new utilities to the Tree City and Tree Line USA family - Bancroft, Oshkosh, Sterling, Lincoln Electric System, and Nebraska Public Power District.
